Either Facebook tracks when someone else searches for you, and uses that information for its "friend" suggestions (which in this case is unlikely), or it uses some sort of cross-site scripting attack to snoop Gmail.
Oh, wait, the attack could be voluntary, one of those "give me your password so I can suck down all your email and contacts" tricks the social network sites present to naive people as a "convenience". Jebus fucking Crisco, why are people so trusting of these things?
